USA Ultimate Rankings/Tally Classic Pools

Jojah ranked 17th in the nation
One of the main motivations underlining every tournament this year for Georgia is getting bids for the Southeast region for Nationals. USA Ultimate released the first rankings of the 2012 college season yesterday, and for Jojah and the rest of the Southeast Region things could not have been better.

Basically each region starts off with one automatic bid regardless of merit. Additional bids (of which there are 10) are allocated based on regional strength/rankings of teams belonging to a particular region in the top 20.

Currently the Southeast owns 4 bids to nationals with Central Florida(10) getting the auto bid and Florida(15), Georgia(17), and FSU(18) earning strength bids for the region.

Grain of salt: It is still a long time before the series and there are many tournaments to be played so these rankings will change in some way.

Tally Classic
In a little over a week Jojah will travel to Tallahassee for their next tournament of the season.

Pools were released today, and Georgia has the No. 1 seed. Huzzah.

Warm Up: A Florida Affair

Jojah heads to Tampa this weekend to play some good ultimate teams and work on their tan.

Warm Up is a round robin tournament comprised of several teams with legitimate goals of playing on Sunday at Nationals this season.

Saturday's Schedule

University of South Florida 8:00
Wisconsin 10:30
Pittsburgh 1:00
Carleton College 3:30
Florida 6:00

Same as any tournament Jojah competes in this season, it is important for the team to get positive results against out of region competition. Wisconsin and Carleton were last year's National's Finalists and Pitt finished a modest fifth place, so they provide a legitimate measuring stick for Jojah early in this season.

You can follow live updates on twitter tomorrow, or check the score reporter and see how the tournament is playing out.

Joint Summit 2012

At the end of a long winter holiday filled with family, friends, food, and track workouts, Jojah is packing the bags and getting in the cars to make the soggy hour and a half drive to Clemson, SC for this year's Joint Summit.

Saturday
Jojah has been awarded the two seed overall in the tournament, so pool play looks like this for the Dawgs:

8:30 Clemson B
10:15 SUNY-Buffalo
1:45 Liberty
3:30 Florida State

Important things this weekend

Bids for Regionals- Although this is the first tournament of the season and blah blah blah, these games matter. A lot. For reference as to how important getting bids for your region can be, see Jojah's second place finish last year at Regionals and subsequent absence from Nationals.

Weather- It's going to rain. Probably a lot. This gives Jojah the opportunity to show some mettle and get it done in the mud and the yuck.

Saturday's Forecast...

You can get up to date information on the team's progress from our twitter and tournament scores and information from the score reporter.
